MOT Advisory what next

I'm surprised there is corrosion on a 10 year old Skoda. We have a Nissan and Fiat older than that without any corrosion. Has it been kept near the coast and are any other panels or floors rusting?1

Where did you get it done ? 'Slight scored disc' they're having a laugh. It sounds like they've gone to town probably looking to tout some work . I'd get a second opinion on the subframe and then take it somewhere else in future where they don't try and put the fear of god into folk.1

Has it been kept near the coast and are any other panels or floors rusting? You will likely find evidence of rusting on the virtually unprotected subframes, unless someone has taken action to prevent it.Nissans are well known for front subframe corrosion, it is what scraps K11s, the engine and running gear last forever. (Unfortunately, having an engine that doesn't leak oil means surfaces that would be covered in an oily film can corrode)What we don't know is whether this is flaking paint & light surface surface rust = fix with a clean & paint or more severe = hold back for a couple of years with treatment.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Sounds like the OP has a good car, assuming it is reliable.
All the items listed are wear and tear consumable service items, apart from the corrosion. The OP needs to understand how severe the corrosion is and suitable preventative measures to prevent further deterioration but, if this is the first time that has been mentioned, I'd expect that a low-cost treatment could be sufficient.1 -
I've got an 11-year-old Octavia with twenty thousand more miles and the advisories I've got are the discs are worn, pitted or scored, front and rear. Looking to get through the MOT this month and then get the discs and pads done all round. Also got told at the last service the rear suspension arms are looking like they might need to be replaced shortly.
Can anyone confirm if the discs will be ferodo? Looking to replace like with like and I thought I might go with ATE.1 -

But to be honest in the old days it was the cheapest I could get.
Now I pay for quality.0 -
I had an old car that I sold earlier this year, in 2018 it had:
- Nearside Rear Lower Suspension arm corroded but not seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i))
- Rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i))
I never did anything about them but they mysteriously vanished from the MOT advisories in 2019 - 2021 so I think they must heal themselves over time
I even checked the 2022 MOT done last month by the new owner and they still haven't turned up again.1 -
Many thanks for all the contributions to my post.
I now feel much more informed and will be taking remedial actions in due course.0 -
