Mira Orbis shower.

I need to replace the solenoid in our Mira shower, but can’t work out how to remove the existing one. I’d prefer not to wreck the thing! Has anyone on here any experience of doing so?

Many thanks.

Usually the solenoid is held by plastic clips/catches on the end of the rode that is sits on.

    Which part? 416.51?
Is it part of 1647.103? If so, have you managed to remove that part first? (Not saying it needs to be, because I don't know.)

  • Hi,

Thanks for the advice. The solenoid is part number 416.51 in the diagram. I’m not entirely sure if I need to remove the part 1647.103, but the solenoid does seem to be attached to the bottom of it. There’s quite a number of screws to remove. I’ve taken several photos to act as a guide to putting it back together! As I said in the original post, I certainly don’t want to trash it.

    Thanks again.

It's the valve that is attached with the screws, not the solenoid that jict sits on the plastic rod and, most likely, can be easily taken out without removing the valve. Is it that hard to post a photo?
  • I’ve never posted a photo on here before, but I’ll see what I can do!

  • Well, I managed to post the photograph, but the text has vanished! As you can see, I hope, the solenoid is towards the bottom, connected by the red and blue wires. There is some sort of plastic gubbins in front of it that I think needs to be removed.

Silly me - that's a MIRA! They are brilliant at customer services, from what I recall
Contact them, and I bet they'll give you the info you need.

How certain are you that the solenoid is actually defunct? Could it just be a sticky what'sthecentrepolebitcalled? Or, the actual valve above not being activated by a perfectly fine solenoid? Does it go 'clunk' when activated?

    The solenoid is white here.

     - some similar model; here you can see what holds the solenoid in place and how easy it's to remove it. Click the picture enlarge it.

  • Many thanks for the help and advice - I should be able to do the job now!
