I work part time 20 hours husband is full time. We used to get tax credits but they ended as apparently we owed them money which were now paying back. Applied for UC have just had this response as husband doing an open uni part time course. What does it mean? I’m a little confused;

A basic entitlement condition for receiving Universal Credit is that a person is not receiving education.
Your circumstances have been considered, as you are receiving education on a part time basis, and you meet certain exception criteria, you will be entitled to receive Universal Credit.
The amount you are entitled to will reflect any student finance you receive. Your payments will be detailed in your monthly statement.

     Any student finance he receives will
    be deducted from any universal credit award

     though don't think open uni qualifies you for student finance so no issue?

    If you have an overpayment and are paying it back through your tax credit claim, if you apply for  UC it will stop your tax credit and anything outstanding you will still owe.

    Is that a reason for tax credits to end 🤔

    Did you use a benefits calculator to check entitlement before you claimed?

    Did the tax credit claim end or did payments end due to overpayment being deducted from them.
