Can I switch my Sky box for an android box?

Our Sky TV contract ends soon. We have had Sky since 1996 but in the last year our watching habits have changed. We don’t watch Sky programs pretty much at all. In the last 3 months we have used our Sky box to watch BBC’s Shetland. The only issue is that I have a channel that I watch through my Sky box called Premier Sport which I pay yearly for the Rugby content.  Is there a tv box that I can use that will allow me to watch Premier Sport without being a member of Sky?

Premier Sports have an app which would be downloadable to an Android box via the Playstore . You can then subscribe to Premier Sports packages BUT I don't know whether they "disallow" the HDMI output on the box to use on a regular TV.
Sky don't allow SkyGo to output to HDMI as it undermines their multiroom offering.

I can watch Sky Go from my laptop to my Samsung 55 inch via a long HDMI cable.  What I can't do with Sky Go is 'cast' it to the TV.

Very surprised - I've tried in the past with both Windows PC and Android boxes and never had any success - I'll try again today with the Android box -thanks .

I have a Premier Sports subscription and use it by casting from my android phone/tablet app to my not very smart TV via a Chromecast puck.

Every other subscription/catch-up service I use is available via Firestick but not this one.
