2 yr 'Fixed' until 30 Sep 2022

I am currently on a 2-yr fixed tariff with Shell Energy, which expires 30 Sep 2022. On 31 Aug 2022, I signed up to another Shell tariff (Flexible 7 DD Variable tariff), which takes effecr on 1st Oct 2022. If we have a price freeze, will I stay on the fixed tariff if I cancel the new tariff (can cancel within 14 days)?

I'd suggest you wait until the official announcement and then decide.  Devil is in the detail as it were.

But if your fix expires on Sep 30, it will expire and you'll go onto the standard variable rate anyway.

Not for long.  We don't know what the 'price freeze' will look like, but you won't stay on your 2-yr fix after 30 September.

You'll stay on your fix until it ends, exactly like you will do already, but instead of then starting the new tariff you would go onto the SVT.

I don't know enough about Shell tariffs to know whether the one you name is just their version of SVT anyway.

Flexible 7 sounds like it's the standard variable Economy 7 tariff, rather than a fixed rate, so you won't need (or be able) to cancel it. But check your paperwork.
  • Yes it's Shell variable tariff. When my fix ended August I was automatically put onto their variable as they have no fixes Anyway
