Personal Independence Timescale. Review

I have been awaiting my PIP review decision for almost 11 months now, my problem is that in 6 weeks time I turn 66yrs old so what happens to my PIP if I still have no result by then because ordinarily I would be put on an indefinite award at 66yrs  ??? Will the review continue or does my turning 66yrs cancel out the review OR will they simply cancel my PIP regardless of whether or not my forms have even been looked at by then ?  Any advice would be most welcome. Thank You All.

Reviews are currently taking longer than 1 year for lots of people. This is because they are still prioritising new claims.
Your PIP will continue until a decision is made on your review. Reaching state pension age doesn’t stop your review. There are no indefinite awards for PIP, the longest award is 10 years. Not all those of state pension age and above have a 10 year award, some do, some don’t.

Just to add a comment about a Mobility award in these circumstances.

Once over SPA any mobility component of PIP cannot be either:
      - increased,   or
      -  a new award for mobility given.

However, if after the SPA, the claimant can show that their mobility problems predated SPA - a mobility award can be given / increased.

In the situation above if the claimant described a worsening of mobility issues in the PIP2 form pre SPA, then even though the assessment was held after SPA an award could be given / increased.

  • My friend got a 10 year award, but review will arrive when she is 66.
Its a few years off but hope it’s all sorted by then.
My friend Carers allowance has just been given after 14 months.
Just look at it like this, you are still getting your award until they make a decision.
Better then when they switched from DLA to PIP.

When transferring from DLA to PIP the DLA always continued until a decision was made on the PIP, providing you started the PIP claim before the deadline and returned the forms on time.

Did not explain myself enough, 3 people I know were on DLA and motability.
On change over they got nothing on Pip.
2 were missing a leg each Boleyn the knee and the other left arm.
All were found to have nothing wrong, fit to walk etc.
As soon as they got zero points the cars were removed.
Took 18 months in total to get there awards back.
