Basically I was using my phone and someone came past from another office, I was looking at a fake email address that I had. Could I get into trouble for having a fake email address?

As above, much more info needed.
What exactly the fake email address is, how it was being used, any impact on the business and the context of the situation as a minimum0 -
It’s a heck of a jump from someone walking past and you being sacked, as per your thread title.thomasparker430 said:Basically I was using my phone and someone came past from another office, I was looking at a fake email address that I had. Could I get into trouble for having a fake email address?
Care to fill in the gaps?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -
How did the 'someone' even see what was on your phone, let alone know it was a ''fake' email address - and what exactly do you mean by 'fake' ??thomasparker430 said:Basically I was using my phone and someone came past from another office, I was looking at a fake email address that I had. I assumed it meant looking at personal email during business hours...0

So basically I looking at my phone during lunch time in a corridor, I was looking at my emails. I was looking at my fake email account and someone came past, they looked at my phone and then my Id and saw the name on the Id didn’t match the name on an email that I had open0

I think you need to tell us exactly what a "fake email account" is? Making no sense to me.0

Still baffled as to the getting sacked bit. Has anyone started any disciplinary proceedings, is your manager asking questions, or are you just getting massively ahead of yourself? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I don't see a problem. You were looking at your own phone during your lunch time. If I walked past someone in a corridor and they were looking at their phone, I don't think I'd be able to see much at all. Maybe if I stopped and had a very good look at the phone screen I would see more but I don't think anyone could have seen much if they were walking past. Unless your phone screen is massive?
I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being sacked for looking at an email on their own phone during their own time, whether the address was fake or not. You're probably worrying unnecessarily. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Why would the names match if you're talking about a personal e-mail account as opposed to the one you use through your employer? Or are you saying you've spoofed an email address using your employer's domain name (in which case that is highly likely to be a sackable offence).thomasparker430 said:So basically I looking at my phone during lunch time in a corridor, I was looking at my emails.
