Fixed Tarrif - What now
I decided to go for the E.on fixed tarrif 18 in the middle of August.
Now that it looks like the government is going to freeze the cap Below this rate, I don't know what to do.Are people who went for fixed tarrifs below the predicted cap hike now to be penalised? Money saving expert suggested this would-be a good idea but now we seem stuck.
Eon say that there is no exit fee for this tarrif BUT there is no mechanism on the site to actually exit and go back to the standard tarrif.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

If you call them (after any announcement to see what actually is being offered) they should switch you back to the SVT.1

MSE suggested that it was an idea worth considering. Nobody told you to fix, and it's not "being penalised" to keep you to the terms of the contract that you signed.0

Wait until October, see what happens, if you prefer the new capped tariff then simply contact EON and tell them you no longer want your fixed tariff. It's as easy as that.Nothing is set in stone, we might or might not get the £400, we might or might not get a price freeze.1

All you can do is wait and see.But do remember that you didnt buy a fixed rate to necesarily get the best terms. You bought it to give you certainty. A bit like how people buy fixed rate mortgages.Sometimes you will be better off. Sometimes you wont but in all cases, you know the figure unlike those that do not fix.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you want to go back to Next Flex, simply email them and tell them so. It will be sorted immediately and no exit fees.Seajay58 said:I decided to go for the E.on fixed tarrif 18 in the middle of August.
