I don't know if this was serious or someone hitting out at  E-On but I was wondering how come I was using loads of electricity when I had turned everything off and I was like how can this be. So I gets my phone out and starts recording the meter and low and behold it starts jumping from 1 rate to the next and im thinking there's something wrong with this meter and who fitted the electricity meter but E-On. We are now getting new water meters put into our area soon as the water meters have been charging customers for water usage when the customer hasn't been. My friend had his outside meter changed by Anglian water when he found out his bill was massive and they checked the meter wasnt working the way it should, just hope E-On meters weren't the same manufacture as Anglian Waters. ??????

Confusing post...why are you thanking E-ON?

Pretty sure the construction of water meters and electric meters have no common parts.
  • electric and water meters are two completely different things. (tempted to say something about not mixing water with electric....).

Have you done a sanity check on you ELECTRIC meter? Are you in a flat or house? Does the meter you use correlate to the meter billed (serial number).

I think the "thanks" were sarcastic...but sarcasm is hard to perform in the written word!

The manufacturing of both types of meters could be made by the same company and after a period of time they malfunction ???

There is no known large scale issue with electric meters, reports here of issues with a meter are very rare and usually any billing issues are either because they have the wrong meter number for the address or the person is just using more than they expect (often a device using electric they don't think of).

All things can malfunction regardless who makes them, the technology used in water maters (purely analogue as far as I know) and electric meters (totally digital) would suggest any malfunction in both would be a coincidence.

Have you told your energy company, and have they replaced your meter?

  • Don’t the displays on some meters automatically scroll through the various screens? What is the make and model of your meter?

by rate do you mean the amount you're being charged per unit or the rate of power being used. it could be there was something like your fridge that was clicking on and off in the background?
