That type of hard paper was known as Bronco roll were I lived.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

At university in the early 1970s the  toilet roll in the student union had the addresses of the local family planning clinics printed on every sheet!
  • The first time I went to to the Imperial War Museum, the toilet paper all had Property of Her Majesty the Queen stamped on each piece.

Alongside the old Izal loo roll came another type which was slightly softer and was made of crepe paper.
Does anyone remember that the old paper rolls were wider than what is available today.  They then gradually shrank.  I think the manufacturers have carved as much as they dare from the width and are now shortening the length.  "Double length" rolls have now become available.  How long before these become the norm then, once again, manufacturers will gradually shorten them?
  • Hi,
its the same as choc bars, same wrapper, look the same, same price, but read the weight, be down a few grams
Was in my local Morrisons today, Christmas selection tubs in already, never checked weight but probably down on last year.

Frequently used the 'hard stuff' to trace maps for my Geography homework back in the day. 🤣
