New here, but have had my energy doubled even though on fixed tariff! Am turning more stuff off than before so not using anymore than have done previously

Comments

  • Are you talking about your bill or your direct debit?
  • do you submit regular meter reads
    are you in debit/credit
    what's your annual usage
    what are your tariff rates
assuming you are referring to your monthly DD - if so what was your previous DD and new DD

The fixed tariff is the unit price only.   It isn't a fixed monthly payment where you can eat as much energy as you like.

Your bill and your direct debit amount are two different things.    Your thread title says your bill has doubled.  This would suggest your energy use has doubled.  Or do you mean your direct debit has doubled?

So, if you chose a monthly payment level that was insufficient to cover your use, then your bill will go up.  Both to cover the arrears you have built up and to put it up to where it should be.

When buying the fixed tariff did you give them your kWh use or did you tell the a monthly payment?  (former is more accurate, latter is nearly always wrong and insufficient and results it in going up sooner or later)
Are you giving them actual meter readings or are you relying on estimates?

You're possibly using more than they estimated so increased the DD to compensate for usage.
