Neighbours extension caused cosmetic damage – where do i stand?

When the plasterers do that block wall, they could do yours as well, if they use K rend for the lot.
Depending if you trust their tradesmen to do the job of course.
Do you still get on well with your neighbour?0 -
shoe_dog said:Thanks for the advice so far, i've responded to comments as best as i can. I think my only option is to have the affected wall on my kitchen re-rendered at the expense of my neighbour / neighbours builders.
My main concern now is timing. Finding a K Rend specialist to carry out the work is proving difficult and given the time of year it might not be until next spring that i can find someone and get the work done.
Do i need to act on this within a certain timeframe legally (again the damage took place about 12 weeks ago)?
What can i do to protect myself and ensure this will still be paid for in the event the remedial work can't be carried out for 6 months or so?0 -

I can understand that. Your house looks like it's had a lot of work done on it.
The neighbour really should pay for the work to be done properly.0 -
Is it just me? The facing wall of their extension has not only been rendered, but painted too. I get the impression that this is their gift to you of a finished wall!I'm still not convinced that there isn't still an issue with the guttering. After all the heat and the extended dry spell, it should be dry-ish.I'd be up a ladder looking at that roofing join now. The detail is terrible. And I'd be out with a rain coat and a big umbrella during one of these storms that keep passing through. You don't want this impacting inside as well.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I knew I's seen pics of this before.OP, you've let them use your own wall for free AND you've saved them the cost of a PWS. The least they owe you is a decent finish.I certainly wouldn't feel bad about claiming for proper reinstatement. If it needs to go to court, it needs to go to court. The fact that people aren't available to do the work is to your advantage as you have some time to look at reclaiming the money for it.You should use the shared wall payment that should be due as leverage, even if you aren't going to claim it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
