Is it cheaper to use electricity at night

People have been telling me to use things at night ( washing machine) as it’s cheaper? I thought the amount was the same regardless of when you use it 🤷‍♀️

It is the same unless you have an economy 7 meter, these give cheaper electric at night and is offset by more expensive during the day.

  • There are time-of- use tariffs available such as Octopus Agile that offer cheaper electricity when there is unused supply. These tariff require a smart meter as usage us billed in 30 minute chunks.

It is only cheaper if you have a separate night tariff, like Economy 7.  Otherwise, it makes absolutely no difference at this time.

  • Thanks everyone I’m on a normal variable rate so I’ll just use it as I usually do as it doesn’t seem to make any difference x

There isn't any difference, unless you are on E7.
