I'm expecting my new FF tomorrow. I've monitored my ~ 15 years old lg american FF, for the past 4 months and it uses between 2.8 and 3.6 KWH each day. I've gone for an E rated, HAIER HFR5719ENMP which is expected to use 0.85 kwh / day.2

Mine is about 10-12 years old if I remember right, but the ones I see for sale now have quoted higher energy usage. I think mostly because they bigger my size is hard to buy now.
Auto defrost increases energy costs a bit, but not sure how much specifically. Also the bigger the fridge the more it will consume.0 -
Taking in to account the impact of producing a new appliance too then it could be best to hold onto old fridge until it conks out I read (apologies I can't remember where). Resources in producing a new fridge may outweigh environmental impact of old one.0

He's probably replaced it, or decided not to by now. However since the thread's been bumped, anyone wondering about this sort of thing would be well advised to measure actual use.Our old freezer was using way more than it should, and seemed to sit for hours on end silent but drawing 60 or 70W. Investigating the innards suggested the defrost was goosed and in effect fighting with the refrigeration. It was using 2.3kWh per day which is just under 840kWh per year. The replacement claims 303kWh per year but is actually using quite a bit less. I don't yet have a full year's data but so far from 1st January it's used 194kWh.0
