Aquventure - tour operator refund

I booked ticket through their website(no name given yet as May still get refund) for Aquventure, it said “open dated”

Once I got ticket on actual ticket it said valid till 14th October 2022

I will be in Dubai from 17th October to 25th October

I messaged them on WhatsApp, after I told them it was not my error they have a email address, for me to email and they will contact supplier no grauntee of refund.

This what they said on WhatsApp

“open dated means validity of the tours”

I stated, there’s still not dates until you book, otherwise would not have booked, it should say at start so I don’t book.

I also stated “I will have to dispute it with my bank as it was impossible for me to know and no error, made from my end as no dates given at all, and open ticket means anytime unless dates given”

Then they gave me a email address, for me to email, their team.

I hope I can get a refund as for my other bookings they have been brilliant.

    It says no refunds.

However I have not made a error, they have.

I will try and be more simple:

water park in dubai I booked via tour operator website

date on website  before booking said “open date”

once I brought ticket it now says valid till 14th October on ticket

There was no way I could have known and open means anytime, or I thought worse case valid till end of year.

so now I’m trying to get a refund as I will be in Dubai from 17th October.

I am not sure what help you are looking for from MSE. If you won’t name the tour operator web site then we are unable to look at what you bought or the terms attached to the sale.

Rayna Tours seems to be a UAE based travel seller.  Assume you are in the UK and just found their website via an internet search.

What date did you put in the box?  Did it coincide with dates that you were in Dubai?

I would agree that the 'Open Dated' addition to the ticket description is not helpful and could be misleading, especially in light of no further information to explain what open dated conditions meant.  That said, in the absence of a travel date, it may not help your case if you did not enter one.  If you did however put say 17 October then selling you a ticket that expires 14 October is clearly a fault.  There could be reasonable expectation that 'open dated' was from and during your travel/tour date and gave some flexibility over the admission date you later chose whilst on holiday.  Not sure when you booked but with the current expiry date of 14 October presumably the ticket is giving quite a range of flexibility in use.

During check out the non-refundable comment might raise another flag.

I am not sure you have a credit card claim. Both for the reason and also the <£100 amount.

Buying from a UAE based seller may also mean options are limited for any other recourse.

I think pointing out the issue to Rayna Tours and politely asking for intervention is certainly the direction to take.  Wait to see what they say and if they can adjust.  Fingers crossed.

    Thanks,

My aunty who recently went dubai emailed me their details, also I checked reviews and then just booked through them

The reason I did not book direct water park website, is it was cheaper here and even then had 10% discount code.

Also when I tried to book anthor attraction direct from website it kept getting declined , and bank didn’t even have any information, and book through these which was fine.

I booked through them cheaper, banked approved previous trains-actions, so knew it would go straight through.

It’s pending at the momment don’t think that can help refund.

Oh no, just released I didn’t put a date in the travel box left it as it is, miss it as I was just thinking open dated., thanks for noticing.

In email reply they said they emailed their supplier

That won't be a valid excuse for a refund.

I might be getting too old but I can never understand why some people book complex, detail heavy and expensive purchases via a small phone screen.  Things can easily get missed and it is near impossible to see what click thru links to use to read important terms, conditions and alike.   I'd always book flights, holidays etc using my laptop or at least ipad.

I'd also think about booking via overseas based businesses.  It just makes dealing with issue so much more complex and consumer protection may be much weaker.  May be a cheaper price but can also lead to post booking problems.

Not selecting a travel/tour date in your instance I suspect has creating the issue with the sale defaulting for that purchase date, or day after, then the ticket having a limitation on use.

Let's hope Rayna Tours can work something out for you.

I’m disappointed in myself though, for missing that date and not even asking on WhatsApp what they mean by open date before booking

Here I was saving money cancelling subscriptions not eating out etc and thinking I can use in dubai, all of sudden just through away over £60

Is it worth disputing through my bank in 15days and do you think I may win.

With duplicate transaction they said tommrow, but hope I don’t have to go to bank both ones slightly diffent  amounts
