gas = £889
electric = £723
total £1885.Don’t think my £70pm will cover that!I’m genuinely amazed that BG are actually telling me that’s too high, as well.
I’m having the opposite problem to most people, by the look of it - not being charged enough. I’ll be upping my DD from next month. Be interesting to see what Liz Truss has planned.The electric will drop a small amount as my 1.5kw fan heater has gone. The gas, I was hoping I wouldn’t have to cut as it’s only on at the timer for 5 hours a day. Guess it’s fewer showers & a colder house, then.1 -
Only a prediction of course, could go up or down depending on the market and the government. You're correct, though, you are already a low energy user.
Make sure you take all the different support options that are available, not just the automatic rebate.0 -
There are no other support options available to me. I’m a single, working household. I’m on £26k a year & I’ve always done fine on a less than average wage. Aside from single person discount on the council tax there’s nothing available in terms of support.So far there’s been the £150 council tax rebate & the £400 energy rebate. Neither will go very far. I’ve already pretty much stopped driving my car due to the cost of diesel. Shopping already cut back, my budget for that has always been £100pm & still is. It just doesn’t buy as much now, no more luxuries like brand name washing powders anymore!At the estimate given earlier my energy bills will have gone from £50pm at the last cheap fix (this did actually cover my usage) to £185pm. I’ll buy more jumpers & woolly tights.1

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6384763/edf-and-the-400-differing-payment-methods#latestIf you pay by Direct Debit
You’ll receive your discount as a rebate rather than a credit to your bill. This means you’ll carry on paying your full Direct Debit amount. Once the payment has cleared, we’ll refund the monthly discount amount to your bank account within 5 working days. If you cancel your Direct Debit, or it fails, we’ll add your discount as a credit to your energy account instead.
You’ll get your discount every month, even if you don’t get monthly statements. You'll see confirmation of the discount on your next statement.
For example, if you pay your Direct Debit on 15 October, and it reaches us on 17 October, you'll receive the discount in your bank account by 22 October.
If you pay when you get your bill
You’ll receive your monthly discount as a credit to your energy account in the first week of each month. You’ll see this on your monthly bills from October.
We’ll add the discount to your energy account every month, even if you don’t get monthly bills. You'll see confirmation of the discount on your next bill.
For example, if you receive your bills on the 15th of the month, we’ll add your discount in the 1st week of the month, starting in October, so you’ll see confirmation of this on your bill dated 15 October.
If you top up with a smart Pay As You Go meter
We’ll add your monthly discount straight to your electricity smart meter as a credit in the first week of each month.
We’ll get in touch from October to confirm each time we’ve added the credit.
If you top up with a traditional Pay As You Go meter
You'll receive vouchers by email or post within 11 working days of the 1st of each month.
You can use each voucher at a PayPoint shop to top up your electric or gas meters, or both.
You only have 90 days to redeem each voucher from the date it was issued.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
