I have got a sandringham washbasin tap and the hot water tap is dripping. I was told I will need to replace the whole tap? Cannot remember who but is it true as in the past only the washer is replaced for dripping tap. Thanks

This is a conventional multi-turn tap? If so, all it needs is a new, 20p, rubber washer.
And for someone to take it apart. Which can be done with the tap in situ.
Are you a DIYer? If so, we can guide you through this, tho' there will be lots of vids on YouTube worth looking at first.
If you need a plumber, then call a few trusted locals up, tell them what the issue is, and hopefully they can pop in one day on the way home from a 'proper' job, so will only charge you X instead of Y.1 -
If it can be repaired as above you might be able to get away with a tap reviver kit rather than change out the whole taps - https://www.screwfix.com/p/swirl-bathroom-basin-contract-tap-reviver-kit/122041
