Proof of Posting for Tracked/Signed For

My usual postage method with no printer for eBay LL's  is QR code at RM CSP & P326 pad Proof of Posting for anything sent standard (I also have Bulk forms) Signed For i've not been getting a PoP, assuming the acceptance scan would count for any claims.

Same method for Tracked48, although I use Library to pay for printing to do labels, 4 per sheet, as QR code unavailable for LL.

Having started to get nervous about the length of time a T48 is taking without moving past acceptance (well within eBay estimate currently and obviously i'm aware of strike last week), I looked into the claims process and it seems my assumption is incorrect, without a PoP for T48 a loss claim would likely result in the standard stamp compensation and nothing for item value- obviously I have no problems refunding buyer if it didn't arrive.

Going forwards if I absolutely need PoP for all items sent would a Bulk form or P326 pad be acceptable for Signed For/T48 items?

Or do I need to start printing an individual sheet for everything I send with label & integrated PoP making the QR code method redundant?

Once you have received the proof of posting in the App, it acts in the same way as a proof of posting or stamped certificate of posting received in a Post Office branch or a Royal Mail Customer Service Point.

To use this service simply go to your app home screen, tap Other services > Proof of postage.Tap Add proof of postage and follow the steps through according to which channel you bought your postage through.

For items where you want to ensure you will receive a proof of posting you can choose to drop off your item at a Post Office branch or Royal Mail Customer Service Point and get your certificate of posting stamped.  You can also use the app to take a photo and store your paper proof of postage in the “Paper Receipts” section of the app."

  • Going to the library printing labels off seems a lot of unnecessary faffing about. I don't print labels, I just write the name and address on the parcels and go to the Post Office in person to post everything.I make a full time living selling on ebay so post plenty parcels.

Yes, I think Tracked 48 is only available online.

I’m far to mean to pay extra at the PO, all those 50ps extra for standard 2nd class parcels soon adds up as that is my main parcel size.

Also as above the RM tracked 24 and 48 is not available at the PO.

I’ve just started using Rm tracked 48 for more expensive parcels and at £3.35 it’s the same price as standard 2nd class at the PO with considerably more compensation. However I have a printer so just print off directly from the RM site which prints off a POP at the same time.

There is no need to access the tracked product. 2nd class standard, 2nd class signed for or special delivery covers everything adequately

There is a valid point made by soolin that 50p savings could be made online, but it's not worth the time and hassle of changing my routine for.

@Buster_Danog The key there is "applicable items". The only digital proof of posting i've been able to generate within the App was for a Small Parcel. It seems Large Letters are not applicable.
Unfortunately all my eBay sales are LL and the SP was something outside of eBay.

I prefer Tracked48 for orders over £50 as it's pounds cheaper than Special Delivery. £3.20 normally or £2.70 (promo) compared to £6.35. I'm not a business, I sell personal items, with the proceeds going into savings, and as I offer free postage losing myself pounds each time I get an order that size doesn't make sense.

Definitely seems like I need to start printing a POP with labels for Signed For/Tracked.
At least it's the lower value order that hasn't moved since posting, and not the one that had triple the value!
I do 20-25 listings a month and get repeat buyers who win multiple items, so it's quite rare to have one item go to one buyer, won't be too much extra hassle to do things properly from now on.

For you. I wouldn't even consider Signed for as a service. Plenty of reasons for others to use the Tracked service.

The price difference for me means it isn’t an adequate comparison . How much is a 2kg special delivery on a £50 parcel, as tracked 48 would still be £3.35.

I’ve had issues with my printer and still don’t have my label printer up and running properly and am using an old fashioned ink and paper one at present. Even with my small sales of around 100 items a month currently I would replace my printer immediately if it broke as it’s cheaper that paying extra on every parcel and I would probably break even in a few weeks.
