Sainsbury's Nectar card points reduction

It's actually the opposite, yet another "Brexit bonus" - Mastercard and Visa immediately raised the fees as soon as the transition period ended. Debit fees went from 0.2% -> 1.15% and credit 0.3% -> 1.5%lr1277 said:Let’s not forget the way banks fund these rewards is from their share of the fees charged by the card company; inter-change fees I believe.
My guess is that the EU and British rules have reduced the inter-change fees, there is less money to provide rewards.
So one way forward might be for the government to raise the inter-change fees, in which case banks MIGHT raise their rewards. But this would also mean retailers across the board would put their prices up. My speculation.0 -
Depends on the bonus scheme, Sainsbury's do lots of bonus points offers on stuff you buy regularly and it's easy to accumulate a lot of points if you're savvy. The loss of nectar bonus from spending though is annoying but I will just switch to using my cashback credit card instead as soon as this offer ends.prowla said:TBH, I just ignore the stores & cards points systems; if I get something then great.1 -

Spend within the UK is still capped at 0.3% interchange for credit cards and 0.2% for debit cards.0 -
Already gone across to AMEX so will convert to Avios with them, great introductory bonus too.
Even more so you can refer 10 people and we both get a bonus.
Damn shame the referrals board has gone from MSE1 -
Do you know if they are going to cut the bonus nectar points from the AmEx card too? That is still showing 2 points per £1 spend on the Nectar sitedcfc67 said:Already gone across to AMEX so will convert to Avios with them, great introductory bonus too.

Damn shame the referrals board has gone from MSEWhich bonus points are those? The welcome offer has been the same 20,000 points (roughly £100) for 10 or so years now, other than rare advertised uplifts via the Nectar website/app. The 2 pts per £ rate is the same everywhere; it's equivalent to 1% rewards which is pretty much par for the course with fee-paying Amex cards.Sainsbury's Bank have no relationship with Amex, the agreement was formed between Amex and Nectar when they were owned by Aimia (hence the ancient card branding).0
