Asda Substitutions... Watch out!

Received our Asda online grocery order this morning. 5 lots of subs. We ordered
2 x6 packs ready salted crisps (12 bags) @ £2. They sent 1 x 6pack hula hoops @£1.75 (6 packets short of original order)
1 x 30m tin foil roll @ £3.50. They sent 1x 10m bacofoil roll @ £3.50 ( 20m short of original order)
1 x4 pack daiylea dunkers @ £1.50 They sent 1 x 3pack philadelphia dunkers @£1.50 ( 1 dunker short)
1 x40 pack cat food pouches @ £10.00. They sent 2 x 12 packs whiskers @£9.00
I rang them and asked for refunds but they said if we want a refund to either take them back to store, or give them to the driver next time! After explaining there will not be a next time and a bit of an argument I now have a refund on its way. After looking at previous orders and subs, this has been happening regularly. So please check your subs, quantities and prices they are charging!

All the supermarkets do this. Recently I've had a big bag of peppers subbed with a small three pack for about 5p less (boo), and a cheap bag of 1.5kg oven chips subbed with two 950g bags of the posh ones  (yay!). Swings and roundabouts, it evens out over time.

While I understand your annoyance, surely you had time to check before delivery & reject with the driver that day?

I always get an updated mail before delivery, telling me what has been subbed or not available. I then inform the driver I do not want that particular sub, washing up liquid subbed for dishwasher rinse aid for instance, driver takes it back & refund is completed there & then

Didn't have time to check with delivery as ordered quite late last night, for a 7am slot..sub email came in about 5 mins before delivery. Our drivers are always in a rush, and kind of chuck it at us and go before every thing is checked off. I didn;t stop to compare sizes and prices while he was still around, and tbh with kids animals etc running around and 'helping' things often get put away without me seeing. I think with most people we just don't have the time to check every email etc about their delivery... hence ordering online to save time!
Usually we can see if a sub is no good by what it is, (meat sausages for veggie sausages etc,) and return to driver but don't bother to check weights, quantities and price when driver still here. My point to the post is actually to make people aware the supermarkets are doing this kind of thing and to actually try and check what their subs are, even if they seem to be the same item, but a different brand.

Tesco always used to sub with better brand or more. During covid we switched to asda as couldn't get tesco slots. Noticed a massive downhill trend with Asda and the subs. Only today though did I bother to check. We have never been better off with subs from asda and pretty much always had less or inferior. Back to Tesco we go!

Well, that's from Tesco - I've had smaller packs subbed or own brand subbed for branded frequently enough. Hopefully you find them better than Asda, but I think they're all much of a muchness.

Yes they are, and I don't know why I thought any of them would be any different. Lesson learnt to check and double check subs and eveything now. Also maybe print off the order so I can check items off against items as delivered.

A few weeks ago I had 610g of pears  instead of 1.2kg for the same price and a 4 pack of some fancy named oranges instead of a 10 pack I ordered the 4 pack were £1.70 and the original 10 pack was £2.40. I gave both of them back to the driver. I always print my order and check the subs before they come.

Must admit I still haven't succumbed to online supermarket shopping and haven't yet heard a good argument for it.  OK - yes during covid or if someone's mobility was such they were completely unable to get to shops.  But the vast majority I think it's just a convenience for which they are willing to pay extra.

I know a number of posters will be able to or at least want to justify using this service but so far it's a no from me particularly when I hear about so much dissatisfaction.
