Some people get confused about these (NSR) and how they work
The supply to them is on a timer, they should ONLY heat up at your cheap rate times (check your tariff)
You should have a "Economy 7" type tariff
I would suggest switching them off (they probably are anyway) and leaving them 2 days to totally cool down, then turning them on at peak rate time, they should not be live till your cheap rate starts, a smart meter will tell you, or keep feeling them, if the timer is switching the NSR circuit live on peak rate you will use more leccy than Blackpool illuminations, its worth checking ESPECIALLY is - like us - you have an old mechanical timer for circuit 2.... these are the worst for being set wrong, ours cost me £700 10 years ago...

To my mind that's something you should keep, not try to get fixed.

It matters not what time the cheap rate starts/finishes so long as the NSR's dont get a peak rate supplyQrizB said:maxmycardagain said:The supply to them is on a timer, they should ONLY heat up at your cheap rate times (check your tariff)Don't check your tariff, check the *actual* times that *you* get the cheap rate.Even when first installed the times are allowed to vary from house to house (so that you don't get the entire street switching on at once) and time switches will inevitably drift if not re-synced.There was a thread a few weeks back where the OP had E7 from about 7am to 2pm and was complaining about it. Once set up right they are not a bad option plus, ALL your leccy is at off peak when they are so put your washer on a timer or sit up..0

I’ll add - really learn to use the heaters you have - different models vary a bit in how they are best set up, but the key thing is to remember that unlike GSH, NSH’s require some forward planning. If you have programmable HHR models, try to make sure that you “use” what heat leakage there is by not overlapping with your “on” time in the morning. An independent thermometer is an incredibly useful buy so you can monitor the actual room temperature being achieved.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I can actually hear a click from my outside meter box when my leccy goes onto day rate in the morning - which at the moment is around 8.15am. I can rely on that till the clocks go back - when it will be 7.15. Apart from when we have had a power cut - I have to check after that as for some reason, after a cut, the on/off times can change by around 10 minutes.

At the moment my economy 7 meter goes off about 9.30 which is good. I've never had an issue with them. Not on this year yet of course.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Mine is on until 10.15 am until the clocks go back, when it will be 9.15. I keep telling EDF but they don’t believe me, so nothing more I can do. I have owned up so their loss. At present I put my immersion on for a couple of hours in the morning when I get up rather than leaving it on all the time and the water stays nice and hot. Last year during Autumn warming the NSH for three hours in the morning would take the chill off nicely until the full over night option was needed. I do only have a small one bedroom bungalow.Torry_Quine said:At the moment my economy 7 meter goes off about 9.30 which is good. I've never had an issue with them. I wouldn't have even bothered telling them as it's outside of your control and your average person probably wouldn't have even noticed.GibbsRule_No3. said:
