We are off on holiday to Florida next year and have seen you can get married in Florida at the courthouse.
We are having a once in lifetime holiday with the children and wondered if anyone else has done this? We think the cost with be around $200 and don’t need any witnesses?
Certainly be unique and one off and won’t involve all the stress of a U.K. / family wedding.
anyone share any experiences and if this can actually be done? Thanks

My boss got married there. It is a story he loves to tell. They went to Disney World, but ended up too early, there was a sign saying just what you said, the kids were chanting 'do it, do it, do it'.... So they booked it and did.....
I think he said they had to go back a few days after, but can't really remember
They both now say they only got married cos Disney World was shut....
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I married on holiday in Florida in 1999, but we added a wedding package to a hol already booked (Virgin hols) Yes you go to the courthouse, trying to remember but I * think * they take your documents (eg birth certs), then you are (or were) required to read a booklet, once done you return to the clerk and at that point they ask you if we wanted to marry there and then or did we have a ceremony already booked, as we did have a ceremony booked at what was then Cypress Gardens (now Legoland) we said no and left. Check but I don't think you can 'just' turn up. I definitely remember having to supply birth certificates in advance but whether that was for our actually ceremony or the courthouse I can't remember and I'm unsure if we had a timed appointment.
I'm pretty sure witnesses don't appear on our wedding certificate. When we were asked if we wanted to marry there, only me and husband had gone to do this, so if they do need anyone, they'll be able to find someone. I'd just contact them for clarification on requirements, before going on hol.
Congratulations and have a lovely wedding0 -
Have you tried looking on https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/index.php forum?
It's all about Florida holidays and there are a few threads about how to organise getting married over there. Good luck!"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718
