Very basic question about how boilers work

After tweaking the lockshield on every radiator, my house now gets up to a comfortable temperature in a reasonable time. Before hand, bedrooms were always cold.... (also been doing a bunch of other work which has contributed to warmth).4.3kW PV, 3.6kW inverter. Octopus Agile import, gas Tracker. Zoe. Ripple x 3. Cheshire0

i only use gas for heating and hot water 9500kw per year, the heating sys is a worcester 5yrs old and i know the internal settings can be changed (gas safe fitter) its a cpl of internal jumpers that need moving inside the sys to accept a change in gas type
putting the gas bottle outside and run a pipe from heating sys to the gas bottle1 -

Got a little creative with a 4mm drill bit so that the sensor would be in contact with the pipe.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

You can make the boiler run more efficiently by turning it down a bit. You could keep turning it down a bit at a time, checking each time that hot water still gets hot enough, and the house is still warm enough.
have to say im very lucky to have done a 3 year fix last summer when we moved, so 2 more years of 4.06p/kwh, but am trying to get into good habits in case this goes on beyond 2024No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
[Deleted User] said:Below about 0.8Bars, your boiler will stop working. If you are having to top up the system pressure on a regular basis then you have a leak somewhere in your system. This could be from a radiator; a joint in a pipe or within the boiler itself.0

I did give them a bit of a bleed to get some of the air out, but I'm thinking that there isn't really much point in messing about with them too much until the boiler is moved back as more air will probably be introduced again, at a guess?0 -
I use one of these (or similar) for balancing radiators. No need to fix anything to the radiator.

I've checked it with a thermocouple contact thermometer and it's within 1 degree C.0 -
