Are Energy Meters Worth It?

When energy meters were first introduced they had very much mixed reactions. We've never bothered with him following tales of them reporting incorrect readings and then having little recourse to correct. What's the current view on these devices?

Are you referring to smart meters?

Every household has some form of meter, without it you don't get energy.

I report the the current number of units pm the energy meter each month and never had a problem with them.
Inside the house I have a number of CT clips on the tails of my CU so I can monitor individual feeds such as the cooker, lighting, shower, etc.

When time-of-use tariffs come in - and it will be sooner rather than later - offering cheaper prices/incentives for using less energy at particular times, smart meters will be very handy.

My energy meters are free and extremely accurate . I suspect they a m ore accurate than cheap energy meters

I have two , Sangamo Weston analogue electric meter has been recording my daily usage for the last 21 days and  it was 4.14 kwhs a day and it has cost me £22.66 in energy  .plus vat and standing charges total £33.93

My gas meter is also free, a George Wilson G4 and tells me my daily gas usage has been  1.07 kwhs and has cost me in that 21 days £1.56 plus vat and standing charges the total is £7.35

    total for both is £41 .28 in 21 days ..£1.96 a day £13.76 a week.
I think that info is accurate enough for me .
Excellent billing advice from Octopus who give me a full breakdown every time I submit meter readings

I would like to know what my Dreamland single electric overblanket is  is using per hour  on its various settings but that is about all I need a watt energy meter for  so I m looking around to see if a friend has got one .
If I can t borrow one I ll work it out from my very accurate old electric meter.
