Nosing options for step

Hi All,
I'm looking into nosing options for this step from my wood floors living/dining room down into a tiled kitchen:

As you can see, the plaster in the kitchen keeps cracking and splitting and I need somethng to cover the join here. It's a Victorian house so nothing is level and so whatever I use needs to have a litle bit of flexibilty and not need to be on a completely level surface.
I've seen a few alliminium options on ebay but wonder if there are any classier options, something that looks less like an office staircase perhaps. I can't find anything so maybe this is my only option. Any other ideas?
Thanks,

As I feared, nobody has a better solution. I wonder what others with similar room layouts have done...0

I'd either replace the last board in the doorway with a slightly wider one and have a bullnose on the overgang (like you would with a staircase). Alternatively, cut back the plaster on the upstand of the step and replace it with a strip of solid wood stained & varnished to match the rest of the floor.I think a bullnose overhang would be my preferred option - It only needs to be 20mm or so to stop the plaster underneath from being kicked too much.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
