Electric Car Salary Sacrifice - Worth It vs Second Hand Traditional?

I think it is a fair comparison for the OP. If one of their requirements was to have a new car then they would compare a new ICE car with a new EV. If there were suitable SH EVs they would compare a SH EV with a SH ICE car. But neither of these apply. They are looking at what meets their requirements and what is available today and comparing alternatives.Grumpy_chap said:
As much as the OP was comparing a used ICE versus new EV, which is an unfair cost comparison, the Kona is unlikely to be a suitable alternative.Herzlos said:However, if you were to look at a Hyundai Kona EV for £30k, I think it'd work out much more favourably.
The OP was considering two giant SUVs (Kodiaq vs Enyaq), the Kona is much smaller, more akin to the Kamiq.
If the case is purely financial, based on the OP's figures the diesel wins.

Thanks everyone, this really helps. I realise it is somewhat an unfair comparison, but it is my real world comparison. I have no need for something brand new, but if it makes financial sense and future proofs me a bit then it might be worth it, but not at £12k difference.
The bit that has really helped, is that I need to look into the whether the £650 is pre-tax. If it is then it makes much much more sense. I am used to the scheme at work that we have for bikes where it shows the post tax impact i.e. real-world cost.
I will also look into whether this scheme impacts pension contributions. It would be like my employer to do something like that, but best to be really sure.0
