Summer weight duvet for curtain lining?

Hi I have a spare king size 4.5 tog duvet and a very draughty front door.
I was wondering if hanging a door curtain lined with the summer duvet would be a good idea.

Any comments would be appreciated

Most duvets have won't function properly when hung vertically, unless all the filling is securely stitched in place. Most fillings would settle to the lowest point in each channel.

How strong are your curtain rails?  A duvet can be quite heavy.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    Hahaha...I didn't think about that!!
I could add a few more rows of stitching though

I haven't put any rails up yet, so will need to think carefully if I go ahead.

I popped into Dunelm today to look at the full length curtains. They are so expensive...that's what got me thinking about trying to find something cheaper or something that's already at home.

Let's hope that the winter is not to cold and really short

A blanket would work better.  A proper thermal lining will work best of all and pay for itself in the long run.

I got a pair thermal linings from Dunlem last year.  90 inc width x 108 inch drop £24 for a pair, might be better placing them back to back and hanging them. Nice off white colour - really made difference to keeping room either warm or cool during this summer.
I got thermal and not blackout ones.
  • Growing up a long curtain was hung over the front door

I've got a lined curtain in my porch and I put draught excluders round the door.

A curtain from the charity shop will do and as they come in pairs one can be used as the other is being washed.

  • We’ve got a heavy curtain from dunelm between the living room and the conservatory and it’s amazing. There can easily be 10 degrees between the two rooms with just the curtain in between. Definitely worth the investment
