British Gas Hugely Overestimating Gas Consumption

I am opting for direct debit - pay monthlywelshblob said:General question related to this, are suppliers able to charge you via direct debit for what you have consumed for that month via a direct debit like a credit card can, rather than this averaging out nonsense? Obviously I don't know the situation here and whether you are billed monthly, quarterly or longer and whether you are opting for DD?0 -
Thank you, everyone.
I'm going to send meter readings monthly to show how little gas I actually use. I have an electric cooker and an electric shower, so the figures given to me are massively inflated. There was no option to choose a lower kWh rate - only the 18000 one. If I had of chosen the fixed rate, the direct debit payments would have been what they 'estimated' them to be £350 and not what would reflect my actual consumption.
I'm sure over the next couple of months they will permit me to lower the direct debit, accordingly. It was just a little horrifying that they thought 1 person in a 2 bed flat would consume so much, given the fact their own website shows average consumption for someone like me as 8000 kKw
Crazy times hey!
