Cancel and go for the new customer deal (Virgin Media)

Hi,

I'm getting to the end of my contract with Virgin Media (less than a month left), and I've seen a nice deal for new customers: Virgin Media - Gig1 Fibre Broadband + Home Phone & O2 SIM: for £54/m broadband.comparethemarket.com/product/13413 - my monthly would go down by £11 and I'd get a bonus O2 SIM, amazing. However they don't seem to budge on haggling to give this to me for that price as an existing customer, but they'd for +£12/m. I'll keep trying...

Was just thinking, if I'd cancel and sign up again (straight away) for VM, would I be considered a new customer or I need to give them time before I can do that? Even with the £35 installation fee it's fine, a few days outage isn't a problem either, I'm away for 3 weeks soon... What do you think? Someone tried similar?

Thank you!

Normally have to have been away for 12 months+ to be considered a "new" customer.
  • Thanks, is there clearly said somewhere? I see only 90 days here: community.virginmedia.com/t5/Managing-Your-Account-Cable/Cancel-and-my-partner-join-as-new-customer/td-p/4164546 - but this is 2020
