OP, tell us the name of your tariff and whether you are on an FTTP or FTTC broadband service?
Unless it's FTTP, I suspect you are on an ancient BT legacy tariff where the line rental is billed out separately.
All current broadband tariffs have to bundle in the line rental charge, it's a regulator requirement, and has been for years.

So when I look at deals, line rental is not mentioned in any of the deals. So from what I can understand from the above answers is that line rental is no longer a thing as it is already factored into the price. Is this correct?
So for instance at the moment I am looking at a deal that is price at £45 pcm, but says nothing about line rental, yet at present I pay that amount plus a line rental fee of £25pcm
Look in the small print at the bottom. It's there.
I don't know what deals/provider you are looking at, but for FTTC, line rental and Anytime calls, £45 is absurdly expensive; you should be paying no more than £30pm.

If you've not change provider for a few years and just kept paying the bill then you are probably on an old legacy service. You are just the sort of customer than BT prefers.

As other have said, shop around, you can get broadband without a phone service for a lot cheaper than £45 and TBH you can still get BB with unlimited calls for a lot less from other ISP's.

Most ISPs will transfer your number over and you can usually get incoming calls for free and just pay for any outgoing calls if you don't want a fixed phone service. I pay just over £30 with Vodafone for 100mbits fibre to the home broadband together with unlimited calls - I could save £8 by not having the call package.

Plusnet are now offering an FTTP deal without a landline connection for anyone capable of FTTP.

There will always be an element of line rental whether its copper or fibre who ever the supplier is - the definition should now be telephony service rather than landline.

Vodafone also provide an FTTP service with the option of telephony services because their routers like the BT routers have a telephony or VoiP port.

If you transfer your phone number to VF, then you can receive incoming calls for free but pay a hefty charge per outgoing call or get unlimited off-peak or unlimited calls for an extra charge over and above the broadband service.

Some providers now offer broadband only (ie no phone service) especially on FTTP services, requiring you to set up your own VoIP service using a separate VoIP service provider. Up until last year I had broadband on FTTP and phone on copper until BT shut down the copper service.

My mate has TalkTalk and he has FTTP broadband with copper providing his phone service, presumably until OenReach decide to close down the copper services where he lives

So you really need to check with your broadband  provider what you get for your money and whether it meets your needs.
