Are my meter readings normal?

Hello,
In July, I moved into my first mortgaged home. I now pay energy on direct debit, before this I was on a prepayment meter.

I’m pretty clueless about energy and meter readings and what is classed as high or average usage.
The property is a 4 bedroom semi detached with two occupants.
The current electricity meter reading is 11742 while gas is 14023.
Is this normal, low or high?

That depends what the meters read before you moved in.3

Those readings mean nothing without knowing what they were previously ie an hour, 24hrs a week0

You need to know the start and end figures for a period you have been in the property.
Take the figures you have recorded and check them again at the end of the month and see what the difference is, this is your usage for gas and electricity.1 -
As above, there's nothing to compare to!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!2

They don't reset to zero when you move into the house...
Did you register for a supply with the existing provider and given readings on day one? If so, you must know what your opening reads were. If not, then do it today, because otherwise you could be paying for the previous occupant's usage.
Even with both figures, you can't judge usage by a month or two in the middle of summer. Up to 80% of your annual total will be used in the winter months.
You also need to say how the property is heated and hot watered: both by gas?No free lunch, and no free laptop2 -
If they did then your bill would be £147500

Then you have used £34 in gas and £102 in electricity assuming you are on the SVR and you have a metric gas meter.0

Gas is £51 and electricity £132.
This is very low for 2 months.

Hi,so you've got the moved in reading and the now reading. So, deduct the moved in reading from the now reading, multiply by price per unit, add number of days times daily standing charge, add 5% vat if not already included in prices. Why not set up a wee spreadsheet to keep an eye on usage and cost.0
