Price for Cat Flap in Double Glazed Door

I have just had a quote for having a 4 way microchip cat flap fitted in my conservatory door, which is fully glazed. The price is £452 - that's £372 for the new glazed unit and fitting, £70 for the cat flap and £10 for the cat flap mount.

Glazed unit is approx 1950mm x 500mm and I'm based in North Wales

I've contacted a few other companies for quotes, but most don't cover my area

Does the price seem reasonable? It does to me, but as I have no other quotes to compare it to, just wondered if anyone else had similar work done and any comments?

Doesn't sound too bad to be honest - it's always going to be expensive to put a cat flap in a double-glazed door.
Would it be possible to fit the cat-flap into another door instead, one that's made of wood?  Or even through a wall?  That would be far easier/cheaper, and is a pretty simple DIY job, or a simple job a general handyman type person.

So, this has been a years worth of umming and ahhhing haha....

The front door is just standard uPVC, and I have considered putting it there as I could fit it myself (as I've done with the inner door to the conservatory). However, that would mean leaving an internal porch door open, which is quite cold - I considered putting up a heavy curtain, but the internal door is glazed and gives much needed light into a very dark room. Also, the front door opens virtually onto the road outside the house, so less ideal for the cat, although it's a private road so less traffic. Whereas the conservatory opens into the garden which opens into fields behind, so safer

I could put it though the wall, that's true. I had considered it, but wasn't too sure about the cat wanting to use a slightly longer tunnel type cat flap

Most cats should easily cope with that.

Try it out before drilling through the wall and see what happens.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Good for you for giving your cat this option.  I was renting somewhere without a cat flap and always worried about my cat in case of a fire.

My friends have a cat flap in the wall, their elderly small female cat picked it up right away and has no issues at all.  Saves you continuously having to wipe down the glass in your door as well, catflaps in glass or plastic make one hell of a dirty mess with fur etc, although I do have three tramping through mine all and night long.
