New house with solar panels, what sort of tariff to choose?

My mum moved into her new home this week. The is an old semi detached house, although it's been almost competely rebuilt, including having solar panels installed. The house is currently supplied by British Gas (electricity and gas). I'm helping her tomorrow to call them to get an account created and to choose a tariff with them, but I have no idea if she should go on a fixed or variable tariff. It's only her in the house, she knows to use the appliances during the day to make the most of the solar, but we have no idea what her usage will be like, so I'm unsure what to advise her to go for. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated, don't think we could have moved her on a worse week frankly with the change to the energy cap!

Does she get FIT payments for the panels or does she get paid for exporting electricity? If she's paid for export then a suitable tariff with someone like Octopus might make sense.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Put her on SVT under the cap for now: there are no cheaper fixes. If things change, she can switch without penalty.No free lunch, and no free laptop
