Smart meter discrepancy SSE
I signed up for a 2 year fix in June:
electric - 39.50 per unit and 34.09 standing
gas - 11.51 per unit and 27.51 standing.
much more than I was paying but hopefully less than what’s coming.
Now I’ve got one of those awful older “smart meters” that look like a phone from the early 00s and you have to click buttons. Today I was showing it to my dad and clicked through to the prices page and discovered it’s saying 2.78 for electric and 40.40 for the gas - both daily standing. (The unit prices were correct)

None of these have a £ in front so I assuming it’s pence?
Im scared to call them up in case they say I owe them more money as if that isn’t £ then the electric is crazy low. Though when I look at my account the amount is over double what I used to pay so that doesn’t track.

Unfortunately they don’t add the standing charge to my account until the bill, so I can’t see it added on the meter or the app. I have to wait for the quarterly bill.
Sorry if I’ve not explained this very well. I find this all very confusing.
Has anyone seen these meters do this before and if so what happened?

Don't panic. The rates shown on your smart meter are not used for billing.Your supplier should send the correct rates through to the meter so that you can see what your energy is costing, but if the smart meter isn't connecting to the network (which can happen for various reasons) the rates aren't updated. This is not a huge problem now that you know they're wrong.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile.
