maybe 10 days is the time they allow them selves to process it for payment. They may have someone responsible for processing Bacs payments and may only do theee on certain days of the week.
Bacs payments sent on a Monday credit an account on the Wednesday as an example
It’s a way of managing customer expectations.

It used to be 3-5 working days after its been requested but there is the inevitable question of how long it takes the Boot's to process the transaction in the first place and it could easily be much longer if your card isnt issued by a UK bank.

It could just be a case of expectation management so you are pleasantly surprised when it arrives tomorrow or could be that their Finance team have to actually make the payment and that can take a few days.

From uploading the BACS file to payment being made, takes 2 working days.

However, it may be the case that they only do this once a week. Add in a couple of days for potential IT problems & 'upto' 10 days will be enough to cover themselves

Don't forget that this week's bank holiday may have delayed things a little more, too.

if they said it was ‘processed’ last wednesday though it should be just 3 days including that shouldn’t it?

Without a definitive answer from Boots there's absolutely no way to know. You're just going to have to be patient.

every week they say it’s being processed and to wait for next week and nothing changes.

Depends what they mean by processed.

They might have done paperwork. Put onto their ledger system. But if they do a BACS run on Wednesdays, and just missed the cut off, you'd get paid this Friday

How did you pay in the first place? if you paid by card then you could ask your card issuer to consider a Chargeback.

But you, and probably the agent you spoke to, have no idea what "processed" means.

In my call centre days I could go into a customer's mail-order account and request a refund or see that a refund "had already been paid". Like most call centre agents I had absolutely no idea what the actual process was once I clicked the enter button to confirm the refund was behind the scene... was it automated? Manual? Semi-automated? No idea. I just know we told the customer to allow up to 10 working days and if they returned after 10 working days saying it hadn't arrived you sent a message with set details to the accounting team mailbox
