SMART meter - British Gas installation delays/stock issues

I am a British Gas electricity customer in Anglesey, North Wales.  There isn't mains gas available at the property and all of my heating and hot water is from the electricity (an Air Source Heat Pump).  British Gas were originally booked to install a SMART meter for me in February 2022.  They cancelled the appointment the day before (after I had arranged a day off work to be present at my property).  Despite numerous phone calls and messages they haven't been able to rearrange the installation of the SMART meter yet.  They are now telling me that they haven't got any stock of SMART meters.  I am worried with the price cap increases I am struggling to keep track of electricity usage.  Has anyone else experienced anything similar with British Gas please?

Yes. They have halted smart meter installs completely citing "supply chain issues" with no ETA. Expect a huge backlog to wade through and a delay of many months.

BG bombarded me with messages earlier this year(  ~ April) -when I "succumbed" to their offers for a "free" smart leccy meter and phoned for an appointment ,I was told nothing available before November - please phone later in the year - sounds like nothing is improving then!!
