Is it worth switching to get access to fixes?
I’m with Bulb, one of the few to survive the clearout of smaller suppliers. I see the emails with suppliers offering fixes, but Bulb is never one of them. I’m now wondering if it might be a good idea to switch to one of the bigger suppliers (like Eon) so that I might be able to take advantage if a good one comes along.

no good fix will come along, not until next year anyway. unless you need absolute peace of mind and are willing to pay more than the predicted increases for it, there's not much point in fixing at the moment.0

Welcome to the forum.
No supplier wants you as a customer on SVT as they will be losing money on you.
Only Octopus and EDF might accept you as a customer if you call them and find an agent who will do it.1 -
I get that. I’m not looking to fix at the moment. However, even if I did, I can’t take advantage of any offers because they are always “existing customers only”aoleks said:no good fix will come along, not until next year anyway. unless you need absolute peace of mind and are willing to pay more than the predicted increases for it, there's not much point in fixing at the moment.0 -
Bulb have only 'survived' because they were too big to be allowed to fail: they're being bailed out by the taxpayer and are in administration.

But you knew already that there will be no fixing possible with Bulb, even before they went into administration they only had the SVT and no fixes.

If you want fixed, there are companies that are taking on new customers. I would say it depends on whether you are willing to pay more now but not get any further rises which are expected.

I've been thinking the same. I did enquire as to whether I could go to Octopus but never saw it through in the end. Don't think there's a rush to move at the moment but will consider it again later.0

I've been asking myself the same question given the general advice seems to stay put. I, and my mum are with bulb with separate households and to be honest I'm thinking of moving both to Octopus as firstly we'll get more access to our usage data in an electronic form and secondly the potential of fixed deals in the future. Also there are no penalties for leaving Octopus so it seems like a good option with no downside currently and granted, little upside.Guff666 said:I’m with Bulb, one of the few to survive the clearout of smaller suppliers. I assume your trying to get on board with a energy supplier who will offer a good fix deal to existing customers?Guff666 said:I’m with Bulb, one of the few to survive the clearout of smaller suppliers. So which energy suppliers offer good deals for existing customers if any?
Larger suppliers don't compete so i would stay with the smaller ones for a better fix. Why do you think bigger suppliers will only offer fixes and not others?0
