Using Monitor as TV?

I have a decent flat panel monitor which I would like to be able to hook my cable box up to and watch TV on. Only problem is that my monitor only has a standard monitor hookup and no scart. I don't need TV tuning capabilites. I just wondered if there's anyway this could work because the box does all the work, and the monitor would just simply need to give an output?
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Try an Ebay search for Gadmei
I use a 5280E with a Freeview box and it works fine for me
Paid about £30 from an Ebay shop0 -
Not a techie point, but don't forget you will need a TV licence anyway......0

How much help do you need? the answers above are pretty good
I never even knew you could get a scart to vga looks pretty good except the £60...even the £30 is pretty steep, but if that's what it costs go for it. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0 -
I've got a box sitting in the bottom of my wardrobe that looks just like this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=vga%20tuner&source=15&SD=Y
However, i paid 35 quid for it 2 years ago. It's basically an analogue tuner with VGA out. When i flatshared, i used it to turn my 19" TFT monitor into a flatscreen TV. Rather cheap method also
However, it looks like they're hard to get hold of cheaply now. Mine was an Acer AX120..

Actually, i use to cheat with it. It had RGB in, so i plugged my freeview box in and used it to convert the signal to VGA.
No PC needed also.. it's just a little box that turns monitors into TVs
Edit: found some more on Amazon .. this appears to be the cheapest decent selection online:

or.

It even does picture in picture

I have a Gadmei unit too and paid about the same, it works very well, and the quality is great. Only negative point is that when in standby the speaker makes a low noise, and it interferes with nearby AM radios.0
