Solar Installation Quote

Options
Hi, I've just received this quote for the installation of some panels. I'm struggling to get another company or two to quote so thought I'd ask what you guys thought, is it worth going ahead with?

To supply and install a 4.5kW solar PV system with the following specifications:  12x 375W solar panels Fastensol mounting system Solax 3.6kW Standard PV inverter  for the approximate sum of £6500.00

To include 5.2KWh of battery storage to the system, this includes for upgrading the inverter to a DC Hybrid type.  3.6KW Givenergy DC Hybrid Inverter 5.2kWh Givenerdy DC battery    For the approximate sum of an additional £3100.00

All prices exclude VAT, this is currently 0% on Solar PV installation.

If it says "For the approximate sum of"  it's not a 'quote !

And it looks dearer than recent posters have reported for similar installations.

Solax = Qingdao Special Steel. I'd avoid! The panels will likely also be the same calibre but do share the brand if known.

For perspective, my installer just quoted ~£6350 for 12X 400W Sharp or Hyundai all black panels + SolarEdge Optimizers + Inverter. All with a 25 year warranty.

The Givenergy battery is the only part of the spec I would keep were I considering a battery (given how crazy high solar export payments are, safe to say I'm not)
    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

Thanks Screwdriva, do they install in the Worcestershire area at all?

    Thanks.

Went well thanks, they got here for around 8 or so and left just after 3. We're now producing our own leccy and the kids were momentarily proud of their old man!

The only qualm I have is that I wish the bird proofing wire was black but that's nothing really.

The inverter is in the garage which I need to tidy up at some stage this weekend so I'll take a couple of pics in there for all you solar gubbins fetishists...
  • Looks a lovely job, welcome to the cult.

Did you go for a battery?
