Well, at least some of the fires started because they weren't so completely sealed after all.macman said:

Personally, if my house is going to burn down I'd much prefer not to be in it at the time.

Not the same at all, running a tumble dryer or a washing machine is not comparable with leaving a tv plugged in…anyway, it’s my personal opinion as to what I do, a few quid saving versus increased (albeit relatively small) risk to life, I choose to not increase risk to lives, you do what you like.macman said:

Hi Everyone, I've knocked up a quick calculator in Excel that will help estimate your bills for the next 4 quarters (each price cap) and for the next 6 months. Anything beyond December is estimated but should give a decent indication of what it will be.

You need to make sure you don't use the Delonghi heaters on day rate. Are you using the storage heaters properly i.e. closing the heat off while you are out so you have sufficient left for the evening?N_Pars said:
Thank you.EssexHebridean said:Your night -v- day rate percentage is pretty decent in fairness - well done. If your existing storage heaters are older style ones then it may be worth trying to save up to replace one at a time with newer High Heat Retention models assuming that you are requiring the heat at fairly "standard" times - ie in the evenings. This could reduce any need for supplementary heating (ie on the day rate) that you currently have. Other than that - perhaps an extra layer of lagging round your immersion heater? Reducing the time the immersion is on for (we've been doing this and it does seem to be having a slight impact) and also check the temperature it is set for too.
We use 2 older style storage heaters, so replacing them could be an option. I wonder how much difference it would make?
We do have 3x delonghi dragon heaters that we use, one in each bedroom at night to keep them to a reasonable temperature. One for the lounge if its needed (occasionally)
We have recently reduced the amount of time the water heats up for to 2hrs. I don't know how i would check the temperature? Any ideas?Living the dream in the Austrian Alps.0 -
We can't shut the output or turn the output any lower than 1 so heat does leak out. It doesn't make a difference to room temperature if we turn the output up either (later on in the day) so I'm thinking something is wrong with the storage heaters.0

At the risk of being a Barry Buzkill, I would caution forumites against clicking on unknown links from a new poster (or indeed any poster).Tristan91 said:Hi Everyone, I've knocked up a quick calculator in Excel that will help estimate your bills for the next 4 quarters (each price cap) and for the next 6 months. Everybody should be careful here. Malwarebytes report a trojan and analysis of the file also has a few sites showing danger.Tristan91 said:Hi Everyone, I've knocked up a quick calculator in Excel that will help estimate your bills for the next 4 quarters (each price cap) and for the next 6 months. I am not saying it is definitely a virus/trojan but I would be careful here.1 -
@GingerTim and @pochase a very sensible warning and one I totally agree with. Is there any way you can support sharing this file in a safe way?
I just uploaded it there as it was the quickest way I could find of sharing it.0
