Living abroad, should I get a prepayment meter?

Why would you want to do this?
Avoiding standing charges, this would be only possible with Utilita, but they don't accept new customers?
Avoiding fixed direct debit cost for the months you are not in? Go for a variable direct debit and credit meter.

Thanks for the replies, I've investigated further and whilst the standing charges are annually ~£260, I've discussed with my energy provider and they recommend staying on the variable DD too.
