So actually we need 350 miles but I was adding some extra on for getting stuck in jams. 

Well, correctly: we don't need 350 miles but want it.

One of our current cars is a 6-year-old Skoda that I'm hoping we keep for as long as you have. Been seriously impressed with it so far! Currently planning for both our cars to be Skoda in future.

You can’t drive 350 miles without stopping, that would be very dangerous and not very nice for your bladder.

Though EV's usually have a pretty low top speed and at higher speeds are even worse on fuel.

Just in case you live near a section of unrestricted autobahn and make the occasional fast 350 mile journey. You'll probably find an EV with an advertised 450 miles will have a range of closer to 200 miles @ 81mph.
