Pay in advance by submitting readings in excess of gas and electricity used?
Just an idea re the price rises on 1st October - most months I submit meter readings. Might not actually be legal, but thinking might not get discovered - I am thinking of submitting readings in excess of actual usage before end of September to effectively pay in advance for gas and electricity that can be used over October to March period. I'd 'correct' things over the following 6 months by bringing the readings back to actual figure incrementally. People go away in the winter so the readings could reflect the reality of some consumers. Could save a few quid by effectively paying up front at the cheaper rate. This assuming the meters are not checked of course - which is a random exercise from my experience, however, I do live in a communal building, so the meters are sadly not within my property. Ethically, the way I look at it is that I am buying in advance. Thoughts welcomed!

Fraudulent, and very easily spotted by your energy supplier. For all their faults, they aren't stupid.1

If you suddenly add on 6 months usage in September, don't you think your energy company might notice?
They could put up your DD by a massive amount, thinking you are going to use that amount every month over winter, could you afford that?Barnsley, South Yorkshire
