What are the traffic lights for?
If they stop the traffic before the car park exit is there not a green light for the exit?
it is not recommended to advance on a signal for another vehicle. it is your responsibility to ensure your raod is clear before moving.
If it is not established who is at fault who do you intend to claim against?
Does your car insurance cover personal injury?
Have you asked your insurance company about personal injury?

So, is it one of those spots where one lane widens out to multiple, and because of slow/heavy traffic down the left lane of that people tend to nip out slightly early (crossing the line if nothing coming the other way) to use the 2nd/3rd lane that’s empty ahead?
And you were turning right, straight into the 2nd/3rd lane or with someone letting you out and into the leftmost?Or am I picturing this all wrong…1 -

The police where at the scene, the driver didn't speak English when details were to be exchanged. And the validity of the vehicle was questioned at the scene.
I had to ask a solicitor I knew to get in touch with the police to get TP details because they did not give them to me at the scene, nor did they return my calls for several days just so I could pass onto my insurance.
Why aren't you asking the solicitor you already know for advice?
Failing that, as I (and others have suggested) you either need to ask your own insurer for advice regarding possibly assisting you to make a PI claim or you need to find your own "No win, no fee" firm that specialises in PI claims. And you need to do it quickly.
(But as others have said, if liability hasn't been settled after 18 months and if - as seems possible - you contributed to the accident your self, your claim might not be worth very much, if anything... )1 -

I also looked up the vehicle Mot history and found it had previously failed for tyre depth and brake discs being worn.
Thanks for any advise.1
