The Scottish Power 'Flexi' fixes are fixed for the most important part - the actual unit prices. What they aren't fixed for is essentially the parts that make up the standing charge and that aren't controlled by Scottish power. I wouldn't personally let this put me off if you think the costs per kWh are ones you want to sign up to.
Yes 87% is fixed. I'd 'fixed' at the start of August and was curious to see what SP was now offering after the last week's October price cap announcement. The only tariff now offered is scary, and no mention of the SVT:
    Standing Charge36.48p per day
    Unit rate80.107p per kWh

Ouch! Sounds like you're on a better tariff though thankfully.

Do you use something other than electricity for heating?
    No just elec.

Thanks. I had found the link in the past but have always been a fraction miffed when you ask for available tariffs from the account dashboard it gives only the more expensive ones even if the SVT may be cheaper. Minor rant over.

That’s the fix I’m being offered atm. Based on my usage £398 a month.
Oh not great. What are you planning to do?

Do you just have standard electric heaters rather than night storage heaters? And do you own your home or rent? I'm asking as it sounds like you've got a very expensive heating solution currently, with an Economy 7 supply in combination with night storage heaters generally being the cheaper electric heating option. You may well realise this but just asking in case you haven't explored this before.

I’ll just stick to svt, there is no way I’m paying 82p a kWh unless I’m forced to by the cap increasing.I don’t think I’m a big user of energy I average 170-235kwh a month on electric, gas I can cut back on as my hive is set to 18c regardless if I’m in work in bed or out.

I stopped heating the place more than a year ago. It's rented.
