Your signature looks good now. I agree, the cc and phone will make a much bigger difference once they’ve gone. Credit cards are sneaky, the ‘only so much a month’ soon escalates and it makes such a difference when you no longer have that drain on your resources. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Quick update.... Managed an NSD today, but failed miserably on the eating healthily front. I ate a chocolate bar and it all went downhill from there! First day back at work stresses and emotional eating tendencies are not a good mix!
Pay day tomorrow, so I've just updated YNAB with all the expenses for next month. There's not much left for debt repayment unfortunately, namely because my daughter is starting extra tuition in preparation for her GCSE's so that's gobbling up a lot of our disposable income that would ordinarily go to debt repayment. The only other area we can affect is the groceries...
We've knuckled down hard on the energy front over the last few days too. We've been monitoring the usage like hawks and brought it down by loads. We've not managed that before, so feeling pretty chuffed about that.£1589.94 cc - DFD 31/12/22; £156,737.24 mortgage free target date 1/10/2026; £158,327.18 Total; Starting debt Jan 2019 £393,068; 60% cleared.0 -
Evening!Didn’t manage an NSD today unfortunately. Had to give DD money to meet a friend that I hadn’t budgeted for. She’s clear she can’t drop these bombshells on me in the future!
Signed up to a few challenges for September (NST, NSD, Grocery challenge) and feeling really motivated. Long may it last!Restarting SW tomorrow too after a terrible 2 days. Really need to get a handle on my emotional eating. Whilst I’m feeling in control
with my finances for the first time in a while, I’m not at all in control of my eating at the moment. Not good. But trying to be kind and forgiving to myself.Roll on 1st of the month!£1589.94 cc - DFD 31/12/22; £156,737.24 mortgage free target date 1/10/2026; £158,327.18 Total; Starting debt Jan 2019 £393,068; 60% cleared.0 -
Quick update...
1st day of the month went reasonably well. Managed YWA 1st thing, an NSD, journalling, and gratitudes. Also cooked up stuff from our magic bag and leftovers so it didn't go to waste. Must focus more on eating less but healthier stuff and moving more. Hoping for NSD 2 today; it's grocery shopping day but we've prepped and planned well and therefore shouldn't spend more than £70!
TGIF! For a 4 day week, it really has been a long one!

I find if I’m doing good with money I’m doing bad with food and vice versa. It’s like I can’t give my attention to two big things at once! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Exactly that…I have never mastered both at once! It’s like if I can’t spend big, I reward myself with something I can afford (chocolate and all the pies!) 😕 I’ll have to go have a coffee and some biscuits while I ponder on this some more 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Morning,
Lots going well (NSDs, no takeaways or meals out, still in budget for groceries, quality time with DD). I really must try and focus on this today as I'm feeling a bit rubbish for caving in and drinking wine when I wanted to cut it out for a bit. My eating is still not good either and I'm worrying about the effect on my health. And we've jut had to have an emergency glass repair company out to board up one of our bifold doors which has decided to shatter for no apparent reason at 7am this morning. They charged an eyewatering £200. Typical thing to happen when we're really trying to cut back, but on the plus side I'm so glad we have an emergency fund for this type of thing. In years gone by, it would've gone on a credit card.
Going to up the kindness to myself today. I'm trying really hard on all the areas that I value. Some I'm smashing, others need a bit more love and attention but that's usually the way for most people.
Happy Sunday!£1589.94 cc - DFD 31/12/22; £156,737.24 mortgage free target date 1/10/2026; £158,327.18 Total; Starting debt Jan 2019 £393,068; 60% cleared.1
