Studio on line catalogue credit searches....

I opened a Studio account a while back, only to make purchases so no crazy interest will need paying.
I checked my file after and they had made two hard searches, I have never experienced this with any other accounts/lenders, has this happened to anyone else?
I have made a complaint....

You very likely opened a credit account whilst you were shopping. They're a catalogue company whose bread and butter is selling things on credit.
It would be obvious if you were paying attention that they were going to credit check you, so merely being credit checked is not going to get you anywhere if you complain about it.
I suspect they did not perform two hard credit checks but a credit check and some other ID check or whatever. There's not any reason for them to do a credit check twice. If they genuinely did, ask them to remove the second check.0 -
What on Earth do you mean it would be obvious if I was paying attention???? How dare you?Dimanche_Prochain said:

I can assure you I knew I was applying for a credit account, and I also know the difference between hard and soft searches, I view them on a FULL Experian report, an up to date one. TWO hard searches were done.
Don't talk to me like I am an idiot please.
And while we are at it, I NEVER let interest build up, I pay monthly. Don't treat me like an idiot.Old enough to know better...........0 -
If this is an account where you buy stuff and then pay the bill when it comes in monthly it's a credit account.
The catalogue is lending you money for 40 days or so at a time.
It doesn't matter that you don't pay interest during the interest free period. Interest free credit is still credit.0 -
Yes, what has this do do with my original question about the searches? How many times do I have to say I KNEW it was a credit account. NO OTHER company has EVER done two searches.maisie_cat said:If this is an account where you buy stuff and then pay the bill when it comes in monthly it's a credit account.

I've had a "double search" a couple of times maybe over the last 10 years.
Just contact the business and ask them to remove one of the searches, but in all honesty, unless you are applying for credit weekly/monthly it doesn't matter.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....1 -
Thanks for your comment mcpitam, Glad to hear you have had a double search too. I have made a formal complaint re this and am awaiting contact. I know it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme etc. and I am not making multiple applications. I have all I need now so won't need to. I only used Studio as they do have good sales and cheap stuff now and then, I am aware of their rep and how they suck people in and hope they run up bills and they can get money out of them in interest. Won't happen to me.mcpitman said:I've had a "double search" a couple of times maybe over the last 10 years.

Again thanks for your nice reply. Since this site changed the quality of people has gone way down, I miss it how it used to be.Old enough to know better...........1 -
I had three hard searches by Virgin for a credit card. Two the same day, and one the day after. I got the credit card - made a complaint, and ALL the searches ended up being removed. (Although I only asked for the additional ones to be removed)0

Update: Had email from Studio, additional hard search removed.
My other complaint was also upheld and I had multiple refunds.
So great result.
Thanks for *helpful* comments.
