for cat litter I either use morrison's own brand super absorbent cat litter (non clumping) which is £4.50 for 10L or the felight one which is £11 for 20L. My favourite one is wilko's silica crystal one as it isn't dusty like the other ones can be but my local store doesn't always have it tho you can get it online - £3.50 for 3.8 L.
My fussy older cat loves sheba's fresh and fine which is around £1.90 -£2 for a pack of six although it's on special offer in wilko's quite often. My youngest will eat anything including daddy long legs and moths although like katkin's he doesn't seem to enjoy it!
Have you tried them with sardines instead of tuna? They're only 40 p a tin so a little bit of moneysaving there if they absolutely won't eat proper cat food

    Wood pellet litter 100%.
I volunteer with cats and I'm always much happier when the fosterer has wood pellets in instead of Catsan.
I actually used Catsan when my cat was alive but am a total convert to wood pellets now.
It's so much more absorbent than Catsan and subsequently much easier to clean the trays.

Never even thought about sardines, might worth a go if all else fails. Thanks

I was also going to suggest sardines- or pilchards but I think the later only come in tomato sauce.

For chicken thighs are much cheaper than breasts- but probably not cheaper than the frozen ones you are quoting- unless you can get frozen thighs.

Thanks. I did try fresh thighs just before I switched to frozen chicken and I couldn't really decide if they were worth it after removing the bones and even fresh boneless thighs now seem very expensive. That being said once the frozen breasts are defrosted and cooked they're nearly half the size they were. I'm starting to think that unless I can switch them to a proper cat food diet and then buy that in bulk that there is very little I can save. So I'm going to give that a shot and see. But definitely opportunities on the cat litter though.

Whisky the Tortie says she prefers the gravy to the contents of her small bedtime pouch, and prefers Purina to Sheba. She tolerates her Purina Indoor kibble as it reduces her hairballs!

Toilet wise it's either Breeder Celect (paper) or Cat's Best (wood waste bits), both bought online in the biggest bag.

As someone else said as cats are obligate carnivores , they shouldn’t really be having anything but meat / bones and offal . The rest is junk food 🤪
I feed raw meat with 10% bone 10% offal. I buy it frozen online , a 500gram block lasts 2 days at around a £1. A block from dog food place on line , I use raw feeders as it’s near me and deliver cheaply . Only thing is you need freezer space . Cats like raw meat, raw eggs, and I buy chicks which I get from the same place these are a treat only. 1 per day.
I don’t buy litter , still have same huge bag I bought 5 years ago

P.s. I think the brand is DAF. Durham animal feed.It is sold as dog food as cat food is dearer ! Exactly the same though as long as you check the percent and make sure it has no veg. You can make your own , but I didn’t.

do you add taurine to the dog food? a friend of mine makes her own and says its the main difference between raw for cats and dogs (too messy for me and as you say you need a lot of freezer space so we do the best we can with grain free cartons)
