Best: Moving pension out of VLS60 into Global tracker and cash about 1 year ago. Motivated by this site.

Worst: buying Shell (for dividend/security,) holding on whilst well down during Covid until eventually they regained loss. Then sold at beak even when I should have held.

It was at this point I realised Global Trackers were better for me...

Going to be a bit boring but

Best decision was realising that pensions aren't just things that old people have.
Worst decision was not realising that sooner. Off the top of my head I was 28. And then I only put in small amounts as I was building for a house deposit.

That aside, the best not decision from me but thing to happen to me was Nationwide dropping their interest on current accounts to 0%. I remember it clearly. I'd have been early/mid 20s.

Every year I looked forward to early December & getting this nice few £100 in my current account as interest because that's where all my money was.

Then after that happening for years, one year I got £0 and was real angry about it. I got in touch with them asking what's going on.

It just showed my ignorance. I had no clue about banking, saving, interest rates etc. They told me the rate was now 0%.

From then I looked in to how I could earn something with my money, which in turn brought me to the MSE website & I saw the listings of the current accounts & savings accounts on the main page, started reading, getting interested & learning.

Worst investing decision didn't cost me massively but it was having a play with shares. Ended up buying a few high & selling low just to recoup something.
Then another I bought & due to the frustration of the others, I sold that, but looking back it had only taken a minor dip & rose quite well but I missed out.
I don't play with shares any more. Global trackers for me. Set & forget.

    Lots of good decisions.

One regret was buying a bitcoin for 12 quid, 2012 I think. Didn't keep it..
  • Best - selling free Northern Rock shares when they had some value.

Worst - buying Marconi shares (too big to fail !!) and having non-GAR FSAVCs with Equitable Life.
