Application for credit and hard search without my consent

Hello

This query involves to queries, credit search and my mortgage so I was unsure where to ask the question but hey ho.
anyway back in June I made an enquiry about a mortgage with a broker company who found me a mortgage through platform, part of the Co-op bank. The only thing I ever received was a DIP from them no formal application was made. The broker did not inform me that the search carried out in my credit file would impact my credit report or it would be a hard search. Search’s for DIP are usually soft searches.
I have just checked my credit report and there is a search in there classed an application for credit on 08/06/2022 with the Co-op bank. I can only assume this links to Platform. Can this be easily removed from my search history?

I am now at the stage of completion with my current mortgage with Leeds building society. Their search has also been listed as a credit application on 01/08/2022 but I’m not bothered about that because I chose them and consented their credit search to go ahead. My deposit has now been sent to my solicitor so hopefully we are very near the end of completion. I’m just slightly concerned that raising the dispute about the other credit search will have an effect on this mortgage application, if LBS run another search at completion, they might see I’m disputing the Co-op search and ask why hence delaying the process.

  • You asked someone to find you a mortgage and part of that process was a search.

Did you ask what kind of search would be made ?

I cannot see you have any case at all.

Surley the broker has a duty to inform you if it will be a soft search or hard search. Every other broker I've spoken to informs you first. They can't just perform a search on your file with out consent. You don't automatically give consent to do a search when you enquire about a mortgage.

You presumably consented to finding you a mortgage and getting a DIP. The hard search appears to have had no impact on you so what is the complaint?

    Let sleeping dogs lie IMO.

Because it shows 2 hard searches in 12 months. What if I wish to apply for credit within the next 12 months? That search will have an impact.

That would depend entirely on the Ts and Cs of whoever you used, what DID they say ?

There's no "surely" anything, that's just your opinion.

    No, it won't.

Lenders are not stupid, they take into account what you're applying for.  2 hard searches for a mortgage won't affect you applying for credit elsewhere.

It might affect the fictitious number the CRAs generate, LOL !

They didn't say anything.  Doesn't matter anyway thanks for replying.

That alone won't cause you to be declined for anything.

My OH has five searches in the last 12 months and is still being pre-approved for credit cards with five figure limits.
